In Tomar lives a good friend of mine, from high school, and every summer I visit her and her family. In her house, there are chickens, cats, and a bunch of fruit trees. It is my refuge for three days, while we attend a music festival nearby. Breakfast is always provided with freshly picked goods from the back yard.
Last year I met their most recent project ‘Melaria’, a honey house, where they empty the honey combs, filter the honey, wax, and other goods that the bees make. I am a city girl, I do not even know how to grow vegetables, but I am always faschinated about these processes and they took me on a tour.
We finished up with some honey licor and biscuits.
